The following is the sequence that is used by Anaheim as of 12/2006
1. Courtesy Notice of a code violation is issued to the property owner or occupant. Inspector usually allows two weeks for correction before next step is taken. If there are extenuating circumstances, a longer period may be allowed for correction of the violation.
2. Civil Notice is issued (No fine). The time before the next step is based on the nature of the problem and its correction as determined by the inspector.
3. First citation issued - $100
4. Second citation issued - $200
5. Third citation issued - $400
6. Tax lean obtained against property.
7. Office conference between owner and City Attorney.
8. Litigation. At the discretion of the City Attorney.
